Scottish Premier League side Rangers are in danger of losing their highly-rated teenage winger Kai Kennedy, after contract talks broke down – with Manchester City and Bayern Munich among the sides ready to capitalise on the issue, reports the Daily Record.
Kennedy (18), is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in Scottish football right now. He has already made his first-team debut for Rangers, appearing against Stranraer in a Scottish Cup match for Steven Gerrard’s side.
However, former Liverpool star Gerrard is in danger of letting the teenage winger slip from his club’s grasp, after contract talks broke down without an agreement in place.
Kennedy’s deal is set to expire in June 2021, which will enable interested sides such as City and Bayern Munich to pounce. The Daily Record claims that Rangers remain hopeful of persuading Kennedy to commit his future at the Ibrox, but if not there will be no shortage of sides ready to take advantage.
Kennedy could follow in the footsteps of fellow Scotland youth international Liam Smith (17) – the left-back signed for City from Kilmarnock in March for a £200,000 fee.
