Manchester City have been linked with Napoli midfielder Fabián Ruiz various times throughout the season and CalcioNapoli24, as relayed by Sports Witness, have provided a fresh report suggesting that Pep Guardiola ‘is in love‘ with the 23 year old – but with one caveat.
The caveat is that Guardiola, despite having a contract until 2021, is not certain to be Manchester City manager next season. Sport Bild have recently reported that the Catalan is ‘no longer happy‘ in Manchester.
This report follows on from Mundo Deportivo‘s claims that Manchester City have ‘positioned themselves‘ to sign Ruiz after an impressive start to the season.
In 10 appearances for Napoli in Serie A this season, he has scored one goal and assisted two. But it won’t be those statistics that have impressed Pep Guardiola – it will be his passing from midfield. Ruiz has the ability to almost effortlessly spin on the half-turn, finding teammates in attacking areas – a quality Guardiola admires.
Other top European clubs such as Barcelona and Real Madrid have also been monitoring the rising star as he continues to impress for both club and country, with his top form already earning him seven caps for Spain so far this season.
