Manchester City have confirmed Oleksandr Zinchenko was ruled out of their Champions League clash against Atalanta through injury.
The Ukrainian international was originally thought to have missed out on training, and subsequently the match itself, through illness. However, prior to tonight’s game, it was confirmed by the club that the 22-year-old has sustained a knee injury.
The details of the severity of the injury are yet to be confirmed, however several sources suggest that following further tests/scans in the coming days, the length of time Zinchenko is out for will be revealed.
Manchester City have suffered numerous injuries this season, which has slightly hindered their title challenge, leaving them six points behind Liverpool. However, the return of Benjamin Mendy and the cover from Angeliño should reassure Guardiola during Zinchenko’s absence.
