The 22-year-old Spaniard has enjoyed a fruitful first two seasons in Naples following his move from Real Betis in the summer of 2018, leading to plenty of interest from clubs around Europe, including Barcelona, Real Madrid and now Manchester City.
According to Sport Witness, the Italian newspaper developed their claim of City ‘discretely scouting’ Ruiz by claiming the Etihad side are ‘lined up’, and ‘ready to then raid’ the Naples club.
Napoli appear to be fearful of losing one of their prized assets, and began negotiating earlier this week with Ruiz over a new contract that would include a release clause to over €100million.
If City were to make a move for the Spaniard, Sport Witness do expect the Premier League champions to hold out until summer 2020. With David Silva set to leave at the end of this season, Fabian Ruiz could be the next man to bolster Pep Guardiola’s midfield.
