Fluminense’s talented 17-year-old forward is set to sign a five-year contract with Manchester City once an agreement has been completed between the two clubs, according to the latest reports.
Throughout January, there had been strong suggestions from global press that the City Football Group would be putting up a fight against Shakhtar Donetsk in particular for Kayky, along with his attacking partner Metinho (17) – who also appears to be edging closer to joining CFG.
However, as opposed to joining City’s academy in Manchester, Metinho appears to be closer to joining one of CFG’s clubs – most likely Troyes of France.
In the case of Kayky, Fabrizio Romano has reported that the teenager will sign a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium, once the deal will be completed with Fluminense.
It is claimed that there are still the last details and a work permit to be completed before Kayky can begin preparing for his move to Manchester – which is reportedly not due to take place until 2022, despite him being legally able to move from Brazil this summer upon his 18th birthday.
Romano claims that the Manchester City scouting team are convinced the Kayky is not only ‘one of the best U18 talents in South America‘, but also across the globe – a huge statement given the amount of rising talents appearing in the game at present.
As for the fee involved in the deal, Globo Esporte have reported that the agreement in place with Fluminense for both Kayky and Metinho is worth an initial fee of €15 million – with €10 million plus bonuses specifically linked to the former.
The Brazilian duo are the latest of several young South American talents to be recruited by City Football Group, following in the footsteps of Kluiverth Aguilar, Yan Couto, and Diego Rosa – all of whom joined the group across 2020.
