Bundesliga clubs ‘pursue’ Man City winger – attitude in training describe as ‘bad’

Bundesliga clubs have began to circle Manchester City youngster Jayden Braaf, with RB Leipzig making ‘checks‘ on the winger during the club’s 2-1 FA Youth Cup win against Aston Villa on Wednesday night, according to Jack Gaughan of Mail Sport.

The 17-year-old was involved in both goals and his performances have regularly caught the eye since his move from PSV Eindhoven in 2018.

With his electric pace and abundance of tricks, similarities can be drawn between himself and Jadon Sancho, who left Manchester City to pursue regular first team football in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund.

Pep Guardiola has watched Braaf closely during training sessions but this has yet to result in any first team appearances for the winger.

Braaf’s contract expires in 2023 and he has spoken openly about wishing to receive first team opportunities from next season onward. If Manchester City elect to sell him instead, they will be looking to receive a sizeable fee, given the sums that Rabni Matondo (£10m) and Brahim Diaz (£15m) fetched.

Interestingly, Sam Lee of the Athletic provided an insight into the situation surrounding the teenager’s progression with the first-team. In a live Q&A, Lee suggested Jayden Braaf’s attitude in first-team training has been ‘bad‘ and his path to the first team is currently ‘very blocked‘. The teenager has had ‘issues‘ in the academy and has a bit of a reputation as being a ‘maverick‘.
