Man City allow star forward to decide on departure – no replacement discussions made

Manchester City look prepared to allow striker Sergio Aguero to depart the club in whichever way he pleases, according to Sami Mokbel of the Mail.

The 31-year-old made history at the weekend as he became the highest scoring overseas player in Premier League history, after netting a devastating hat-trick to round off a 6-1 victory against struggling Aston Villa. This saw the legendary forward break the record for the most Premier League hat-tricks ever scored.

However, the Argentine’s time in Manchester will most likely be coming to an end in the near future, with his current contract running out at the end of the 2020/21 season. Aguero has previously expressed his desire to rejoin boyhood club Independiente.

To ensure it doesn’t seem as though they are preparing for the Argentine’s departure, the hierarchy at Manchester City have been ‘reluctant‘ to begin planning for the departure of Aguero.

Having recently been linked with Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, who is seen as a like-for-like replacement for Aguero, the board plan to hold out until a decision has been made regarding the future of the striker at Manchester City.
