Manchester City are set to lose another member of the backroom staff, alongside current number two Mikel Arteta to Arsenal, according to the Daily Mail. The Gunners are hopeful that chief talent spotter Sam Fagbemi could follow the Spanish coach to the Emirates.
With Mikel Arteta’s move to North London seemingly a matter of time, Arsenal are now looking to form a new backroom team to soften his transition. Sam Fagbemi, Manchester City’s chief talent recruiter, is reported to be on that list.
The deal with Fagbemi is set to be completed soon, with talks at an ‘advanced stage’. Manchester City however, are trying to keep hold of their man, who has helped the club acquire some impressive young talents in recent years.
The 25-year-old runs the recruitment mission in the south of the country, and his strength of choosing young talent has caught Arsenal’s eye. The Gunners will reportedly offer Fagbemi more power in the signing of youth players, in an attempt to strengthen their position.
It is yet to be decided who Pep Guardiola’s number two will be when Arteta departs.
