Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will NOT be returning to Bayern Munich, should he leave Manchester City at the end of the current campaign or when his contract expires in 2021, according a report from German outlet Kicker.
Following the departure of former Bayern Munich head coach Niko Kovac in recent days, speculation surrounding his successor has been in full flow, in both English and German media. Pep Guardiola however, will NOT be one of the names in the frame.
According to Kicker, Guardiola will not be returning to Munich – a club where he secured seven major trophies in three years. Instead, it is claimed that following his inevitable departure from Manchester City – whenever that may be – the Catalan boss is more likely to take a year-long sabbatical from football management.
In 2013, Guardiola took time out following his most successful spell in management to date. After four years at Barcelona, that included the securing of fourteen trophies, Guardiola took a year out, spending time in New York.
