Premature panic, unjustified criticism and quite frankly a ridiculous reaction from a small portion of Manchester City fans following the defeat in the Premier League Asia Trophy final. Following some delayed flights courtesy of Thomas Cook, a jet-lagged Manchester City kicked off their pre-season tour of the Far East with a 4-1 victory against Manuel Pellegrini’s experienced West Ham side. City’s Copa America stars are on holiday following a gruelling tournament, whilst Riyad Mahrez, Benjamin Mendy and Eliaquim Mangala are also absent from the tour, with the latter expected to leave the club. The first match to be played in Manchester City’s 2019 pre-season tour will see the reigning champions of every domestic cup competition take on a familiar foe; Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham United in the Premier League Asia Trophy. The first step of this journey kicked off with a hiccup. Due to an administration error from former kit sponsor Thomas Cook, City were forced to wait a day before travelling to China.
