Ruben Dias and Sergio Aguero have both continued training with the rest of the first-team on Sunday, after missing out on the 3-0 win over Tottenham through a lack of match fitness.
Pep Guardiola’s side maintained their winning run in all competitions on Saturday evening, with a comfortable victory over Jose Mourinho’s squad at the Etihad Stadium. Two goals from the in-form Ilkay Gundogan and a penalty from Rodrigo ensured that the winning streak was extended to 16 games.
Two minor concerns were Sergio Aguero and Ruben Dias being kept on the bench for the duration of the 90 minutes, after not being deemed fit enough to secure any on-field game time.
However, as captured by club cameras in training footage, both players have taken part in training on Sunday with the players who did not feature in Saturday’s Premier League clash, and some of the squad members who only made substitute appearances.
Sergio Aguero is continuing to gain match sharpness after a lengthy lay-off from match action, due to a combination of a positive Covid-19 test and muscular injuries that have been reoccurring since the start of the campaign.
Ruben Dias on the other hand was kept out of training for a few days last week, due to a fever and stomach problems that meant he missed the match day squad that travelled to Swansea for the FA Cup. Despite returning to training on Friday, the Portuguese centre-back was not deemed fit enough to play any part in the weekend’s action.
In other fitness news, Kevin De Bruyne could return to training this week, according to Pep Guardiola. The Belgian has been sidelined for the past few weeks due to a hamstring problem. Nathan Ake and Fernandinho both continue to recover from their problems, however no specific date of return has been stated.
