Manchester City are now ‘closing in‘ on talented Rochdale winger, Kwadwo Baah ahead of the transfer deadline, according to the latest reports.
It had been previously reported earlier on Monday that Pep Guardiola’s side had a bid rejected by the League One club for their 18-year-old winger, however it now seems that that may have had little to no impact on City’s attempts to secure the teenager.
According to Charlie Wyett of the Sun, the Premier League leaders are now ‘closing in‘ on Kwadwo Baah (18), and are hoping to complete a deal before loaning him back to the League One club for the remainder of the season.
Baah, a product of Crystal Palace’s renowned academy, made his senior debut for Rochdale in September 2019 in an EFL Trophy match against Bolton Wanderers. This season, he has scored three times in thirteen appearances, netting his first senior goal against Wigan Athletic in December.
Such is the high-regard in which Baah is held, the winger has previously been monitored by Bundesliga super club Bayern Munich previously, while Premier League side West Ham have also shown an interest previously according to reports.
Baah would become the latest player to be sent out on a short-term loan deal, following in the footsteps of Jayden Braaf and Taylor Harwood-Bellis on deadline day – both of whom are joining Udinese and Blackburn Rovers respectively.
City also remain highly interested in Fluminense pair Kayky and Metinho. The 17-year-old pair are the subject of a double bid from the Premier League club, believed to be in the region of £15 million – however the Brazilian side are holding out for more due to the current financial climate.
