As confirmed by Pep Guardiola, Gabriel Jesus, Benjamin Mendy, and Aymeric Laporte are currently battling their respective injuries. The Man City boss also shared an estimated timeline of each player’s return to action.
According to Guardiola, Laporte sustained minor injuries that could stop him from playing from 7-10 days. Mendy, on the other hand, picked serious muscle injuries during the International break and will be out of action for three to four weeks.
Guardiola also confirmed that Gabriel Jesus’ leg injury is severe and has caused a ‘big problem’. Hence, the club is being extra cautious with the striker who is expected to stay out of action for a few months.
“Jesus will be out for more months. He has a big problem at the front of the leg. We have to be calm and cautious with him. He is not training.”
Manchester City got an injury boost after Sergio Aguero made his return to the team and featured in the starting XI against Arsenal. However, City are evidently looking to remain extra careful with the Argentine as the Premier League side has a hectic schedule right ahead of them.
