Pep Guardiola reveals significant goalkeeper injury ahead of FA Cup clash with Arsenal

Pep Guardiola has revealed that Ederson will start Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal, following a minor injury problem with cup goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

The Chilean veteran, who seemed destined to start the showpiece tie at Wembley this weekend, has been ruled out but the Catalan boss in the pre-match press conference, as Manchester City prepare to face Mikel Arteta for the second time since the restart of football.

Pep Guardiola said: “We are playing Ederson. Claudio [Bravo] is a little bit injured. In the last days he was not on bench – he has muscular problems and can’t play tomorrow.”

A minor update on the situation surrounding Joao Cancelo was also provided ahead of the game, with Pep Guardiola revealing the Portuguese full-back had recently been suffering from a minor injury problem himself.

Guardiola said: “He was injured – he had leg problems but now he is back and tomorrow he is ready to help us. We are incredibly happy with him and in the future he will help a lot.”
