Manchester City’s pursuit of Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez is ‘serious’, with the Premier League side preparing to offer Martinez a five-year deal worth up to €8m per season, claim FcInterNews as relayed by Sport Witness.
Man City have been credited with an interest in the Argentina international for some time now, and Spanish giants Barcelona are also said to be rivalling City in the race for Martinez’s signature.
The recent news of City’s two-year ban from the UEFA Champions League has therefore given reason for the Catalan side to ‘smile’, as it will cause City to reconsider a potential transfer for Martinez, FCInterNews says.
Inter are preparing a new contract for their forward who has scored eleven league goals this season, but City and Barcelona are both willing and able to offer better terms as per the report.
Any move for Lautaro would likely hinge on the future of City’s fate in their legal battle with UEFA, in addition to whether or not Gabriel Jesus is deemed surplus to requirements in the summer following links to Bundesliga side Bayern Munich.
