Manchester City are the favourites to sign Coritiba starlet Yan Couto in the summer, ahead of Barcelona, according to journalist Tauan Ambrosio.
The right-back, who has been called ‘the next Dani Alves’, turns 18 in June 2020 – and City seem to have won the race to sign him.
Barcelona, the only other club who’ve been heavily linked with the Brazilian, are no longer pursuing Couto’s signature. This would leave City free to bring him in, perhaps with a view of replacing Kyle Walker in several years time.
Couto hasn’t made his senior debut for Coritiba yet, but has over a dozen caps for Brazil’s U17 side. A CityXtra exclusive last weekend claimed that he was already flying to Manchester for a medical, but this is no longer understood to be the case.
