Manchester City suffer major fitness ‘doubt’ ahead of Manchester United clash

Pep Guardiola has revealed in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Carabao Cup Semi-Final Second-Leg clash with Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium that Aymeric Laporte is a ‘doubt‘ for the game.

The French centre-back had been ruled out for a large portion of the campaign through a serious knee injury, but returned to action against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in the Premier League. Possibly due to a premature return, Guardiola has stated he is a ‘doubt‘ for the Blues’ next game, after missing out the FA Cup with Fulham on Sunday.

Interestingly, Pep Guardiola has suggested that it may not be just Laporte who could be ruled out of Wednesday night’s clash – with the Catalan manager stating, “We have some doubts, tomorrow we’ll do our last check and decide. Laporte is one of the doubts.”

Leroy Sane will obviously be ruled out of the clash, with the German winger yet to return to full training with the rest of the Manchester City squad.
