As the transfer window edges closer to it’s conclusion, there has been a flurry of transfer news over the past day or so. There is a new interesting name linked in midfield for Manchester City, a potential deal for Inter Milan central defender Milan Skriniar, talk of Ilkay Gundogan’s future and a new contract for our beloved Fernandinho.
Here is a complete round-up of the day’s events…
Ferran Torres impresses City scouts
Valencia-based media outlet TribunaDeportiva say that Manchester City had scouts in attendance to watch Valencia right-midfielder Ferran Torres.
Torres, 19, achieved an assist as he helped his side defeat Barcelona 2-0 on Saturday. TribunaDeportiva journalist Hector Gomez claims that Manchester City are ‘very interested‘ in Torres and are plotting a summer transfer.
Skriniar ‘very close’ to Etihad move
Inter Milan’s centre-back Milan Skriniar is allegedly ‘very close‘ to an £80 million transfer to Manchester City, report ElDesmarque, with Real Madrid also interested in the Slovakia international.
While Skriniar would be a dream signing, it would be ill-advised to get excited about an ElDesmarque rumour, especially given their recent links involving Isco with a switch to the North-West of England.
Gundogan discusses his future
Ilkay Gundogan’s contract does not expire until 2023, but he has been open about his thoughts on his career after Manchester City.
A move to Spain or Italy, on the basis of the ‘high level‘ of the football, appeals to the German midfielder, but Gundogan is also open to a move to the MLS ‘because of the life there‘, reported Goal.
Bayern continue to court Sane
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has renewed his club’s very public attempts to sign Leroy Sane. He intimated that Bayern remain interested in Sane, but declared that ‘we will talk to the club first in order to create a friendly atmosphere of discussion‘ – how kind.
We expect nothing less from our German friends…
Fernandinho for one more year
There was an audible sigh of relief that reverberated through Manchester today, as club veteran Fernandinho officially announced that he will be staying at Manchester City until 2021.
The prospect of losing the Brazilian in the summer was a source of much trepidation given how indispensable he has been since his arrival in 2013.
Goodbye to Grimshaw
Daniel Grimshaw has left the club on loan to try his luck in the sixth division of English football with Hemel Hempstead for the remainder of the season. Grimshaw, 22, is a graduate of Manchester City’s academy, so we wish him the best of luck as he aims to kickstart his career.
Matt Smith to remain with QPR
Midfielder Matt Smith, presently on-loan at QPR, may be set to stay there until the end of the season according to West London Football.
It had been suggested that Manchester City would recall Smith to find a better opportunity for him, but instead he may fight for his place at QPR.
