Man City to launch €100m bid for in-demand midfielder – six-month loan back to club on offer

Manchester City have joined Manchester United in the race for Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes, according to Correio de Manha as relayed by the Daily Express.

The report suggests Pep Guardiola and Manchester City are lining up an £86 million ‘mega-bid’ for Fernandes, who would join the club at the end of the season, despite officially signing this month.

Manchester City’s cross-town rivals Manchester United have stalled in their attempts to bring the Portuguese international to the club, and City are hoping to take advantage.

The issue concerning his move to Manchester United is the transfer fee, and the thinking is that City’s offer is more financially beneficial to Sporting. Adding to that, Manchester City would loan Fernandes back to Sporting for the final six months of the season.

Pep Guardiola has recently said that they will NOT be in the market for a midfielder once David Silva departs at the end of the season. The manager believes Phil Foden is ready to take on the role Silva will leave behind.
