Manchester City welcome the Eagles to the Etihad Stadium hoping to pick up another crucial three points in the Premier League.
Here’s our predicted team for the weekend’s fixture…
Aymeric Laporte and Leroy Sané are both back in training, as confirmed by Pep Guardiola in his press conference, but there’s no indication that either will be ready for this match and the boss is unlikely to rush either key player back.
With Ederson keeping his usual spot in goal, I think we may see Joao Cancelo start on the right in an effort to break down the Palace defence. Benjamin Mendy seems to be Pep’s first-choice at left-back and will most likely start again.
While we’re not far away from seeing Aymeric Laporte return to the side, we won’t be seeing him for this one and it will likely be John Stones starting next to Fernandinho. It will be interesting to see who gets dropped when Laporte returns, however.
Even though Rodri has started very well this season, I have a feeling we’ll see Ilkay Gundogan start at the base of the midfield, as Pep often seems to prefer against deeper teams. He’ll have Kevin de Bruyne next to him and I would expect David Silva to get the nod too.
Sergio Aguero is probably going to get a chance to continue his electric form, saving Gabriel Jesus for the next away match at Bramall Lane on Tuesday night. Riyad Mahrez has to start on the right-wing after playing excellently in recent weeks, and Raheem Sterling could come back into the side having not started a game in over ten days now. His fresh legs could lead to a return to top form.
Substitutes: Bravo, Walker, Otamendi, Jesus, Foden, Silva, Zinchenko.
