Manchester City are one of a number of Premier League clubs interested in Athletic Bilbao defender Unai Nuñez (22), who is ‘almost certain‘ to leave during this window, according to El Gol Digital.
An impressive start to the season by the Spaniard has led to interest from West Ham, Arsenal and Everton as well as Pep Guardiola’s men. Nuñez’s contract is believed to contain a £25 million release clause, which could make keeping the player in Bilbao difficult if any of the English sides decide he’s their man.
With the Spaniard still not interested in signing a new contract, Manchester City are labelled as the ‘likely destination‘ for the defender. There’s precedent to be found after Aymeric Laporte moved from Bilbao to Manchester two years ago – also thanks to a release clause being met.
Nuñez has made 45 La Liga appearances in one-and-a-half seasons for Atlhetic Bilbao, keeping clean sheets against Barcelona and Real Madrid in the process.
