Man City still 'in the running' for PSG centre-back – Bundesliga side remain 'confident'

Manchester City are still ‘very much in the running’ to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s young central defender Tanguy Kouassi, according to reputable academy news source Scouts In Attendance on Twitter.

However, Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig are confident that they will win the race to get the 17-year-old on board, according to Scouts in Attendance.

Kouassi, who has emerged as one of France’s most promising youngsters, will reportedly bag a large signing-on fee when he joins the German club – but Manchester City aren’t giving up on the transfer just yet.

In December, reports from France suggested that Manchester City had held talks with Kouassi, but Leipzig were ultimate favourites to sign him given the success of their current group of young French defenders, which includes Dayot Upamecano, Ibrahima Konaté and Nordi Mukiele.

Other reports last month claimed that Kouassi had talks lined up with a number of European clubs.

Kouassi made his competitive debut on December 7th, 2019, against Montpellier.
