Pep Guardiola makes SIX changes to the side that beat Manchester United in the Carabao Cup Semi-Final First-Leg, as the Blues return to Premier League action with a trip to Villa Park to face struggling Aston Villa.
Ederson returns to the starting XI in goal, following a run of five starts for reserve goalkeeper Claudio Bravo. Benjamin Mendy retains his spot at left-back, while Joao Cancelo replaces Kyle Walker at the opposite full-back position. It’s a centre-back pairing of Fernandinho and John Stones that completes the back four at Villa Park.
Rodri takes up the deep-lying midfield role, although could form part of a back three should Pep Guardiola opt for such a tactic. David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne take up the more free-roaming attacking midfield roles, while Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva drop to the bench following their heavy involvement at Old Trafford in midweek.
Riyad Mahrez retains his spot on the right-wing, while Gabriel Jesus AND Sergio Aguero both come into the starting XI, with the former likely to start on the left-wing. Raheem Sterling finds himself on the bench today.
SUBSTITUTES: Bravo, Walker, Otamendi, Gundogan, Foden, Bernardo, Sterling.
