Pep's got his eye on a particular midfielder – Man City Transfer Round-Up: #11

The January transfer window is already approaching the halfway point – and Manchester City haven’t been the busiest of clubs just yet. There’s still plenty to discuss in today’s news roundup, including news about a City centre-back and links to one of the stars of the current Premier League season…

Not A Stones Throw Away

We start with some news on John Stones, who is reportedly facing an uncertain future at the club.

Manchester City haven’t offered the Englishman a contract just yet, despite his current deal expiring in two years. If Stones isn’t offered a new deal, it could mean he will be transferred away from the Etihad Stadium soon, given that the club are unlikely to let him leave on a free transfer.

However, it’s more likely that he will be kept on as Manchester City are already low on viable options in the position, with Fernandinho and Nicolas Otamendi getting on. That being said, it is almost a certainty that the club will be in the hunt for a new central defender come the summer window.

Pep’s Got His Eye On Jack

The second big bit of news today is a link with Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish. The 24-year-old has been Villa’s star this season and his impressive performances have seen him linked with several top clubs, and now The Metro are reporting that the attacking midfielder is under “strong consideration” from the Citizens.

Reportedly, Guardiola is impressed with Grealish’s on-the-ball ability. Manchester United are believed to be among the key competition in the race to sign the player. That being said, the Englishman didn’t exactly have the greatest game in Villa’s crushing 6-1 defeat to the Champions on Sunday afternoon, although that certainly won’t be a mark on a hugely impressive campaign to date.

Man In Demand

Timi Sobowale – a 17-year-old central defender within the Manchester City youth set-up appears to be attracting a whole host of attention this window, with his current club permitting the teenager to train and perform for potential suitors.

According to AllNigeriaSoccer, the teenager is now being considered by Championship club Stoke City, who have joined Crystal Palace in monitoring the player.
