Manchester City winger Leroy Sané is expected to leave the club for Bayern Munich, and the players around him know it too. However, the German is set to stay at the club until the end of the season, which rules out a move in January, according to Sam Lee of the Athletic.
The report also states that everything was in place for Sané to make the switch to the German champions in the summer, but the anterior cruciate ligament injury picked up in Manchester City’s Community Shield victory, ruled out the move.
Riyad Mahrez was set to start that game against Liverpool but a ‘nasal spray’ given to him on Arica Cup of Nations duty with Algeria contained unknown substances that Manchester City didn’t want to risk him playing with. As a result, Sané started the game and clashed with Trent Alexander-Arnold, causing him to pick up his knee injury.
Bayern Munich also feel it will make more ‘financial sense’ to move for the winger in the summer, as his contract will be in its final year.
With Leroy Sané reportedly not moving until the summer, Manchester City will be hoping to get him back on the field soon and use his inventive attacking ability whilst they can.
