Fear within Man City that young star ‘may be better suited to Spanish football’

There is some concern within Manchester City that youngster Eric Garcia ‘may be better suited to Spanish football’, claims journalist James Ducker in The Telegraph.

This belief that exists ‘in some quarters’ concedes that Garcia is ‘excellent on the ball’ but worries that ‘he is not the tallest, quickest, or most naturally aggressive’.

These quarters do not seemingly extend to the manager Pep Guardiola, who has been willing to give Garcia chances – most recently starting him at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League tie against Everton.

Additionally, anyone who has followed the managerial career of Guardiola would know that he does not subscribe to the antiquated view that emphasises physical abilities above all else in defenders.

Ultimately, what will decide Eric Garcia’s future is simply whether he proves good enough or not to feature regularly in the Manchester City line-up. The concerns that Ducker alludes to should be treated with a hefty pinch of salt.
