Incomings, Outgoings and new contract talk is on the agenda today as the January transfer window enters it’s third day. It does seem that Manchester City are using this window to move around their young players from their various loan spells; with another confirmed today.
Cancelo NOT on the move
The first bit of news in today’s edition came late last night from Sky in Italy, who reported that Joao Cancelo will NOT be moving to Bayern Munich, as the German champions have NOT made any contact. Recent reports have suggested that the Portuguese international was ‘unhappy‘ at the club due to a lack of playing time; prompting links from Valencia and Bayern Munich.
Cantwell on City’s radar?
Norwich pulled off one of the upsets of the season at Carrow Road when they beat Manchester City 3-2 earlier in the season. Central to anything the Canaries have achieved so far this campaign has been the in-form Todd Cantwell, who is now ‘on the radar‘ of the Blues, according to the Daily Mail. The 21-year-old is valued at around £30 million and City are on the list including Manchester United and Tottenham, who are also claimed to be ‘keeping tabs’ on the player.
The report claimed that in the case of Manchester City, the club had been monitoring the progress of the youngster for ‘a number of years‘ – seems a little unlikely, but encouraging from the view point of the club’s scouting department!
New contract for young defender
Spanish central defender Eric Garcia has thoroughly impressed Manchester City fans following his last two starts in the Premier League against Sheffield United and Everton. Reports from SPORT, as relayed by Sport Witness, have suggested that the club have been ‘in touch with his entourage‘ about a possible new contract.
With Garcia now considered a firm part of the Manchester City first team squad, the hierarchy at the Etihad Stadium are confident of agreeing a new deal with the teenager, to commit his long-term future to the club.
Nmecha joins Roberts at Boro
Lukas Nmecha, who spent the first half of the season out on loan at Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg, has been recalled from his spell in Germany and immediately sent on loan to Championship side Middlesborough. Only yesterday we saw Woodgate’s team take Patrick Roberts on loan from the Blues, and now Nmecha will join him in the search for more game-time.
Fernandinho for one more year
Riyad Mahrez let it slip that this might be the final year we see Fernandinho in a blue shirt. But according to Sky Sports, the Brazilian is set to extend his contract for a further year and the club is confident the veteran will agree to an extended contract. Certainly good news for all Manchester City fans!
A first bid for Söyüncü?
A report from Aksam in Turkey, as translated by ManCityTurkiye, suggested that Manchester City have made an opening bid of €45 million for Leicester City centre-back Çağlar Söyüncü. It’s said that Guardiola wants the player ‘at all costs’, but the Foxes are demanding a fee of around €70 million for his services.
