Man City receive significant injury boost – crucial defender returns to full training

Aymeric Laporte has returned to first-team training for Manchester City, partaking in ‘10-15 minutes‘ with the squad, according to Pep Guardiola ahead of the Blues’ clash with Port Vale in the FA Cup.

Manchester City have come out of the festive period relatively unscathed, despite a muscular problem picked up by Nicolas Otamendi ahead of the Sheffield United fixture last weekend.

Going into 2020, Manchester City will be boosted by the welcome return of French defender Aymeric Laporte, who has been ruled out of action since August through significant knee ligament damage. The central defender was pictured by club photographers taking part in some light work with the rest of the team on Friday afternoon – photos that were certainly welcomed by all City fans!

With Nicolas Otamendi ruled out of the clash with Port Vale, the injury situation remains relatively unchanged from the clash with Everton – Aymeric Laporte and Leroy Sane remain ruled out, however Ederson has recovered from an illness.
