Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho is set to be offered a new deal by Manchester City officials, as a reward for his excellent form in recent months, according to an exclusive report by Martin Blackburn of the Sun.
Fernandinho has played an integral part in maintaining stability in the Manchester City defence, in a season where the back line has been hampered by multiple injuries – most notably the ligament damage sustained by Aymeric Laporte in August. The Brazilian midfielder has become one of the most integral aspects of the City squad in recent years, and despite being 34-years-old, is set to receive a new offer from club officials.
According to the Sun, Fernandinho is claimed to be ‘keen‘ to listen to what Manchester City can offer him before his contract expires at the end of the current campaign and he is subsequently free to listen to other offers elsewhere.
Last month, Riyad Mahrez worried the majority of Manchester City fans after he let slip in a Q&A with Sky Sports that the Brazilian midfielder would be leaving the club. However, it is now understood that the Algerian was in fact mistaken.
