Chris Kavanagh will take charge of on-the-field matters when Manchester City continue their hectic festive period with a clash against Sheffield United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 29th December.
Manchester City will be looking bounce back immediately following a catastrophic defeat at Molineux just 40 hours prior to Sunday’s clash. Pep Guardiola’s 10-men squandered a two goal lead against Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, leaving the Blues in a precarious position within the top four.
Chris Kavanagh (34) will be the man in the middle at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon, supported by Sian Massey-Ellis and Constantine Hatzidakis as assistant referees. Touchline matters have been affiliated to John Brooks.
Atkinson will be taking charge of his second match involving Manchester City, since his first appearance in a game involving the blues at the end of November. The Lancashire-born match official’s first, and most recent, game involving the champions was the disappointing 2-2 draw with Newcastle United in the North-East.
As for the Video Assistant Referees, they will be manned by Stuart Attwell (VAR) and Stephen Child (Assistant VAR).
Match referee Kavanagh will take charge of his 14th Premier League fixture of the season when Manchester City take on Sheffield United. So far, Kavanagh has handed out 45 yellow cards in his previous 13 matches, awarding four penalties without sending any players off.
