Manchester City begin a hectic period of Premier League football as they travel to face Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves side – the first of three top-flight games in just six games. City will be looking to get revenge on the Molineux side, following the defeat in October that gave Pep Guardiola’s squad an almost impossible task in retaining their crown.
Pep Guardiola makes TWO changes to the side that impressively brushed aside Leicester City prior to Christmas – a change in defensive midfield, while a surprise comes in the striker role.
Ederson retains his usual starting position between the sticks. Kyle Walker, Nicolas Otamendi, Fernandinho and Benjamin Mendy line-up in a defensive four – an unchanged combination from the last Premier League clash for Pep Guardiola’s side.
As for the midfield, Rodrigo slots into the number six role as Ilkay Gundogan drops to the bench. Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva take up the other two more advanced central midfield positions.
As for the attacking three, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez retain their places, while Sergio Aguero starts up front, despite Pep Guardiola suggesting he would not be fit to start this clash. Gabriel Jesus is NOT named in the matchday squad, although the reason for his absence is unknown.
SUBSTITUTES: Bravo, Cancelo, Garcia, Zinchenko, Angelino, Gundogan, Foden.
