Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez appears to have leaked the departure of Fernandinho at the end of the current season, in a video with Sky Sports Football.
In recent weeks, there has been plenty of speculation regarding the future of the Brazilian midfielder, who is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal at the Etihad Stadium. Fernandinho’s current contract expires at the end of the 2019/20 campaign.
However, in a recent video released by Sky Sports Football on YouTube, Riyad Mahrez appears to suggest that Fernandinho has joined David Silva in conforming his departure from the club at the end of the season.
Benjamin Mendy appears to react with a rather hesitant and awkward smile, potentially suggesting that this really wasn’t meant to have been leaked during the campaign.
Fernandinho has been one of the most influential players in the recent history of Manchester City, making 292 appearances since his arrival in 2013. The midfielder has won nine trophies in six years, becoming one of the most successful players in recent times, and his importance within the squad will be difficult to replace, should suggestions of his departure come to fruition.
