Man City to plan major summer overhaul – four new names being targeted

Pep Guardiola will begin planning for next season ‘in the coming weeks‘, as he sets his sights on transfer targets and a potential successor to Mikel Arteta. The Catalan coach will also begin talks with the club to potentially extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium, as reported by Jack Gaughan for the Daily Mail.

While Pep Guardiola is not looking to renovate the squad completely, up to four new faces have been identified, as the club prepares to deal with key losses in the summer. David Silva has confirmed he will be leaving the club, and the future of the ever-dependable Fernandinho still remains unclear, as his contract expires in the summer.

Jack Gaughan reports that Manchester City are focusing their attention on central defenders, but will not be renewing their interest in Jonny Evans, who travels to face Guardiola’s side at the Etihad Stadium with Leicester on Saturday afternoon.

As for his own future, Pep Guardiola had this to say: “We have an incredible relationship with the board,’ he said. ‘I would like to stay as long as possible. That is my desire, but I will only be sure if it’s the best for the club. It’s important to be sure that the decision is perfect for both sides.”
