In a report from Mundo Deportivo, as relayed by Sport Witness, the agent of Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo, Jorge Mendes, is in talks with Valencia over a possible move to the club. Adding to that, it was reported later on Thursday by BILD Sport, that Bayern Munich have also joined the chase for the player.
Joao Cancelo may have only made the switch from Juventus to Manchester City in the summer, but rumours are already suggesting the player could be on his way out. The Portuguese international has only started four Premier League games for City this season, with Kyle Walker preferred by Pep Guardiola.
Mundo Deportivo‘s report suggests that Valencia owner Peter Lim, has been in contact with Jorge Mendes and Cancelo, about a possible loan move in January. The move would boost a Valencia squad still competing on both the La Liga and Champions League stage, but any deal is unlikely as City would not be able to sign a replacement. Adding to that, Pep Guardiola still has the full-back firmly in his plans.
Later in the day, BILD Sport reported that Bayern Munich have joined Valencia in the hunt for Cancelo. City are currently already in a complicated situation concerning the future of Leroy Sané, with Bayern Munich lurking to take the German to the Allianz Arena.
If any deal were to arise for Cancelo, Manchester City would certainly need a replacement; which makes any sort of proposal from either club, unlikely to be accepted by City.
