Cancelo, who signed for Manchester City in the summer as part of a big money move that saw Danilo leave for Juventus, is said to be aware of the interest and ‘happy’ to consider a return to the Mestalla stadium.
The Portuguese full-back spent the 2014/15 season on loan at Valencia, before making a permanent move from Benfica. Cancelo made ninety-one appearances for Valencia until his exit for Juventus in 2018.
Valencia are hoping to be able to secure Cancelo’s services as part of a loan deal in January. However, it seems highly unlikely that Manchester City would entertain such an offer. Cancelo has struggled to establish himself at the Etihad Stadium, and he has made only four league starts this season.
Nevertheless, it can be expected that the last thing Pep Guardiola desires in the January window is to have to spend his time pursuing another right-back. Likewise, there is no sign that Cancelo is sufficiently dissatisfied with his opportunities to be ready to call an end to his time in England.
City fans will likely get another ninety-minutes with which to judge Cancelo tonight, as the full-back is almost certain to start in the Carabao Cup clash with Oxford United.
