Barcelona legend targets Pep Guardiola ahead of potential switch to European giants

Former Barcelona midfield maestro Xavi is ‘openly pushing’ for Pep Guardiola to join him in a future move to Paris Saint-Germain, claims Le10 Sport as reported by Sport Witness.

Xavi is currently the manager of Qatari outfit Al Sadd, a side owned by the Qatari royal family. Xavi’s work as manager of Al Sadd is said to have sufficiently impressed the club’s owners to consider promoting the Spaniard to a role in PSG’s coaching staff: ‘multiple sources confirm the possibility of seeing him on the PSG bench next year’, assert Le10 Sport.

Should this transpire to be the case, the report continues, then Xavi would be ‘openly pushing’ for PSG to tempt Pep Guardiola to ditch Manchester for Paris in the summer. PSG are one of the few clubs who could match the Catalan’s exorbitant wages at City, and certainly must be one of the favourite destinations for Guardiola’s next mission.

However, the report suggests that the preference of the French champions sporting director Leonardo is for Max Allegri to be the successor to Thomas Tuchel; should the German lose his job, that is.

Xavi and Pep would likely welcome the opportunity to work together in the future, but this report in the French media appears far too fantastical to be treated with any credibility.
