Manchester City are set to step their efforts in attempting to bring Jadon Sancho back to the Etihad Stadium, and are now actively pursuing a deal for the England and Borussia Dortmund star, according to an exclusive report from the Daily Mail.
Sancho left Manchester City in the summer of 2017, for an £8 million fee, and was immediately involved in the first-team set-up at the German side. Since making the move two years ago, Sancho has become one of the most sought-after forwards in world football, as well as establishing himself within Gareth Southgate’s England squad – a meteoric rise for a man who struggled for game time under Pep Guardiola.
It was previously suggested that Manchester City had asked Borussia Dortmund to be ‘kept informed‘ of the situation surrounding Jadon Sancho, and in the event of another club launching a serious bid, Etihad officials would have the opportunity to match it. However, it now appears as though bosses at Manchester City are prepared to launch their own offer for the 19-year-old.
Sancho has recently been suggested to be feeling unsettled at Dortmund, hinting that his relationship with significant figures at the club is becoming more and more strained.
The Mail suggests that Jadon Sancho is ‘willing to consider‘ a return to Manchester City. Although Manchester City have the right to be kept informed if Dortmund looked to accept a bid for Sancho, City do not have any clause within the 2017 deal that would give them advantage in the pursuit of the teenager.
It comes as no surprise to fans that City are on the look-out for recruitment in the forward positions, especially given the ever-growing uncertainty surrounding the future of Leroy Sané – who’s move to Bayern Munich seems to be just a matter of time.
Since switching for Germany on August 31st 2017, Jadon Sancho as made 76 appearances for the Dortmund senior squad, scoring 24 goals and providing 34 assists in the process. The contribution of 58 goals has lead to his integration within the England senior squad – where he has scored two goals and provided four assists in 11 appearances under Gareth Southgate.
