Manchester City’s injury situation remains unchanged this week, following the Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk – four players continue to be ruled out of the squad through injury, two of which are expected back at different points during December.
Pep Guardiola confirmed in his pre-match press conference ahead of Manchester City’s trip to Newcastle on Saturday lunchtime, that the squad had sustained no further injuries in training or in the aftermath of the Champions League draw with Ukrainian champions Shakhtar.
Sergio Aguero was the latest to be ruled out through injury, following a groin strain sustained in the win over Chelsea last weekend. The Argentine, who’s thoroughly enjoyed his previous clashes with the Magpies in front of goal, is expected to return on December 15th, according to Premier Injuries.
Oleksandr Zinchenko is expected to return a week earlier, with the Ukrainian recovering from minor knee surgery this month. The converted full-back is claimed to be set to return from his problem on December 7th.
The two more serious injury problems regarding Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte, are not expected to be resolved until the new year. The German winger is expected back in February, while a date has been placed on the return of Manchester City’s French central defender – Laporte is now expected back on January 18th 2020, according to Premier Injuries.
