The 20-year-old midfielder, who has made seven senior appearances for Germany, is allegedly a target of as many as seven top clubs.
Manchester City aside, Manchester United, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Chelsea are the other clubs named as fans of the wonderkid. However, he may be out of a few price ranges, as reports suggest Leverkusen will slap a £110m price tag on their most valuable asset.
Havertz would be most likely to move in January, and is keen to avoid a summer move that could risk disrupting his chances of getting picked for Germany at next year’s European Championship finals.
An interesting detail is that Havertz is said to be making his decision based on which clubs have a coach he is keen to work with. This probably wouldn’t rule out City, but could also be a big boost for Liverpool and Chelsea’s chances.
In an interview Marca, Havertz all but confirmed his interest in leaving Germany at some point, saying “I know the rhythm of these international matches and I’m confident that I can go abroad at any moment and play at clubs outside of Germany.”
“For the moment, I want to have a good season. Afterwards, we’ll see.”
Havertz has had an incredible start to his career, lighting up the Bundesliga last season with seventeen goals and three assists from the middle of the park as he appeared in every single league game.
