Manchester City ‘enchanted’ with teenage Serie A forward – Juventus also interested

Manchester City are plotting to ‘challenge’ Juventus for the seventeen-year-old Amad Diallo Traoré, reports Calciomercato as relayed by Sport Witness.

Traoré, a forward for Serie A side Atalanta, recently made his first-team debut as a substitute against Udinese – scoring a goal in a 7-1 victory for his side. This breakthrough has been built on the back of his impressive performances for Atalanta’s youth setup. Traoré contributed 18 goals and 13 assists in his 42 appearances last year.

As a result of the Ivorian’s impressive exploits, Calciomercato claim that Juventus are seriously preparing a bid for the winger. However, Manchester City have also been sufficiently impressed in recent weeks to enter the race for the teenager’s signature.

Traoré has played twice against Manchester City’s UEFA Youth League side this season. This included a starring role in a 3-1 victory for Atalanta in Manchester, with Traoré scoring once and setting up another. His contributions in the two matches ‘enchanted the Citizen’s observers’, according to Calciomercato.

Manchester City will have to act swiftly and decisively if they are to win the race for the highly rated Atalanta winger. Juventus Sporting Director Fabio Paratici is said to have already made contact with the club.

City do have a record of recruiting talented players from the Ivory Coast. Alongside the unrivalled Yaya Toure, his older brother Kolo, Wilfried Bony, Abdul Razak and Seko Fofana have all been on the club’s books in recent years. Perhaps, Traoré will be a further name to add to the list.
