Man City forward nominated for prestigious award alongside Ben Stokes & Dina Asher-Smith

Raheem Sterling is a nominee for BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year Award according to Sami Mokbel of The Daily Mail.

Sterling was a crucial part of Manchester City’s domestic treble in 2018-19, scoring 25 times in 51 appearances for the club across all competitions. For England, the 24-year-old forward has donned the #10 shirt nine times so far in 2019, scoring eight goals along the way to helping his country secure a spot in Euro 2020 next summer.

While his on-field contributions have been essential to the success of both England and Manchester City, his presence has been felt beyond the stat-sheet this year. Sterling has been as outspoken on the issues surrounding racism in football as anyone else in the sport, much to the praise of fellow players and pundits alike.

2019 has been a heavily decorated year for Sterling as the Manchester City winger continues to add accolades on and off the field for both club and country.
