Pep Guardiola provided an update on the recovery processes of Aymeric Laporte and Leroy Sane on Friday afternoon, ahead of the champions’ clash with Chelsea on Saturday.
The Catalan boss confirmed that both the French central defender and German winger will continue to be ruled out of action for a further ‘two or three months‘. It was reported yesterday, by Goal, that both players have returned to the Etihad campus to continue their respective rehabilitation processes in the North-West.
As for other injury problems and absences going into the clash with Frank Lampard’s men on Saturday afternoon, Bernardo Silva will be ruled out through suspension, while Oleksandr Zinchenko will also continue to be ruled out after sustaining a knee injury last month.
Manchester City will be looking to return to winning ways, following the 3-1 defeat to league leaders Liverpool prior to the international break. Frank Lampard’s men come into this game high on confidence, sitting third in the league table, ahead of Pep Guardiola’s side and behind Brendan Rodger’s Leicester City.
