114 Manchester City fans were recently sent a personal letter from manager Pep Guardiola, thanking them for making the long trip to Ukraine in the Champions League when City took on Shaktar Donesk.
The letter, posted by Darren Page on Twitter, was sent by the club and included a surprise of a Manchester City Hospitality experience for the return leg against Donesk for all those made the trip.
Guardiola says he wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you and was pleased they got to see a good performance:
“We were so pleased to start our Champions League campaign with a victory. We faced a tough Shakhtar team but I felt that we played well, controlled the game and deserved to win.
To have your support in these games means so much, and as I have always said, we are nothing without our fans.”
Manchester City were comfortably winners in Ukraine in their opening UEFA Champions League group stage game with Riyad Mahrez, Ilkay Gundogan and Gabriel Jesus the scorers in a 3-0 win.
