Pep Guardiola confirmed most Manchester City fans fears that goalkeeper Ederson is out for the crucial clash against Liverpool – following the muscular injury picked up in Italy on Wednesday.
When asked about the Brazilian, Guardiola said: “He’s not available. We have another top keeper. Bravo can do it too, we won the Carabao Cup thanks to him. He’s an exceptional goalkeeper, he played a lot of games for Chile.”
As Guardiola said, this means Claudio Bravo will start in goal for Manchester City – only days after his red card against Atalanta in the Champions League.
Ederson joins a growing list of names in a worrying injury list for Manchester City, just weeks after it seemed like the situation was improving at the Etihad. Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte are both ruled out through long-term injuries, while David Silva, Rodri and Oleksandr Zinchenko are all expected to return at some point after the international break.
Ederson has started the season in superb form, and currently is joint top of the clean sheets chart alongside Dean Henderson with five.
