Man City reject €11m bid from Mexican side for promising forward

On-loan Manchester City winger Uriel Antuna has been the subject of a rejected bid from Mexican club Chivas, says ESPN journalist David Faitelson as relayed by Sport Witness.

The 22-year-old Mexico international has spent the season on loan at MLS team LA Galaxy, where he’s caught the eye with twelve goal contributions in thirty-one games while playing alongside captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

This form hasn’t gone unnoticed, leading to Chivas reportedly putting in a bid of around £8m. However, City have rejected the proposal, believing that Antuna’s impressive performances warrant a higher fee than offered. They also believe it’s possible that a side from Europe’s top leagues could come knocking, which may make it easier for City to get a good price.

Antuna, who counts the opportunity to play alongside Ibrahimovic as one of his main reasons for joining the Galaxy, won’t be short of options at the end of the season. Earlier in the week, LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis Te Kloese revealed that the club have an option to match any bids City receive for the player should they wish to.

Antuna has six goals in eleven appearances for the Mexico national team, which is captained by Real Betis midfielder Andrés Guardado.
