Pep Guardiola has confirmed the length of time both Rodri and Oleksandr Zinchenko will spend on the sidelines, following their injuries in the build-up and during the Atalanta clash on Tuesday night.
Ahead of the fixture against Aston Villa this weekend, Pep Guardiola has confirmed the severity of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Rodri’s injuries. It’s relatively bad news for both players, as the Ukrainian and Spanish internationals will BOTH miss the trip to Anfield on November 10th.
Oleksandr Zinchenko will be out for approximately ‘five or six weeks’, after he had a knock to his knee, resulting in pain felt in the bone. Guardiola stated the Ukrainian’s trip to Barcelona this week was to ‘clean it up a bit’.
As for defensive midfielder Rodri, the Spaniard will return to action after the upcoming international break, meaning he should return towards the back end of November – potentially missing clashes against Atalanta in Milan and Liverpool on Merseyside.
The two lengthy injuries come just after Manchester City saw slight relief in the medical department, with Benjamin Mendy, John Stones and Kevin De Bruyne returning to full fitness for Pep Guardiola. Zinchenko and Rodri join Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte on the sideline.
