Man City Considered Move For Man United ‘Reject’ In 2015

Manchester United flop Radamel Falcao was considered as a potential Manchester City target in the Summer of 2015 – AFTER his dismal loan spell at Old Trafford.

Falcao scored only four goals in twenty-nine appearances for the Red Devils, but after returning to parent club AS Monaco, he was mooted as a replacement for outgoing City strikers Edin Dzeko and Alvaro Negredo.

That’s according to new book ‘Pep’s City: The Making of a Superteam‘, written by Lu Martín and Pol Ballús. The book claims that Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak wanted to take advantage of the sharp fall in Falcao’s value.

However, the Citizens eventually decided that Sergio Aguero, Wilfried Bony and youngster Kelechi Iheanacho would be enough as their strike force for the season. Instead, the money that summer went on Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and Nicolas Otamendi – not a bad haul for one window.

Falcao ended up on loan again – this time at Chelsea, where injuries restricted him to just one goal in twelve appearances. But the story had a better ending for the Colombia international, who had some success with Monaco before moving to Galatasaray in 2019.
