Benfica secured their first points of this season’s Champions League campaign in a 2-1 win over Lyon, monitored by a whole host of scouts and representatives.
According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Manchester City were one of the 35 clubs in attendance. But despite no specific player was named in the report, the Premier League champions were ‘certainly’ in attendance to monitor one of the players on show.
The obvious candidate for whom this player may be would be Benfica central defender Ruben Dias, who has been at the centre of multiple links, from both English and Portuguese media, to Manchester City in recent months.
Following the continued injury ‘crisis’ in defence for Pep Guardiola’s side, with injuries to Rodri and Oleksandr Zinchenko coming to light this week, it would not come as a surprise to see officials at the club stepping up their interest in potential defensive reinforcements over the coming weeks.
