Phil Foden and no central defenders – Manchester City vs Atalanta (Team News)

Pep Guardiola surprises many Manchester City fans for the second game running, by handing teenager Phil Foden a start in the Champions League clash with Atalanta at the Etihad Stadium tonight.

The Manchester City side sees four changes from the team that defeated Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park at the weekend. Kyle Walker returns to the starting XI, with João Cancelo dropping to the bench as Guardiola continues to rotate at right-back.

In midfield, David Silva drops to the bench as his rumoured long-term replacement Phil Foden makes up the trio alongside Kevin De Bruyne with Ilkay Gundogan sitting deep.

As for the attacking three, Riyad Mahrez and Sergio Aguero return to the side with Gabriel Jesus and Bernardo Silva both completing the named substitutes.
