João’s Bags In Manchester – The Transfer Round-Up (06/08/19)

Good Evening Blues! The transfer deadline is fast approaching, and it looks like one piece of business is all but done. However, there is still plenty of time for anything to happen. Here’s your latest news to stay up-to-date on everything City!

Only the Announcement Awaits

We could sit here and discuss each report on the João CanceloDanilo swap, but Juventus have been nice enough to make it very simple for everyone. Danilo has arrived in Turin, and Juventus have all but confirmed the Brazilians move to the Italian Champions. Danilo will undergo his medical early tomorrow morning before being officially unveiled later on Wednesday.

Obrigado Dani, and good luck in Italy!

João Cancelo has also made the trip to his new destination. The Portuguese defender has passed his medical and been given a tour around Manchester City’s facilities, according to the Manchester Evening News. The deals for the two players are technically separate. João Cancelo is costing City £27 million. Danilo is going to Juventus on a free, but his £26 million valuation makes the total package £53 million – the asking price Juventus set.

Looks like tomorrow we will see our new signing. Keep an eye out for more!

Gundogan to Extend!

Ilkay Gundogan proved to everyone in the final stretch of last season just why Pep Guardiola – and every other manager that has had the opportunity to work with him for that matter – loves him so much. For a while it had seemed like the midfielder intended to run out the last year of his contract before leaving on a free next summer, with game time his main concern with staying with City. However, with his newfound understanding of the number 6 role Pep was asking him to play, and Fernandinho’s apparent transition into defence, Gundogan has had a change of heart, and is looking to stay at the Etihad! According to Sean Kerns of the Metro, Ilkay will sign a three-year extension, which will include a player option for a fourth year.

Be sure to go check of Sam Lee’s new piece on Ilkay Gundogan for The Athletic. An inside look at the decision process of these last few months, and a great read I would recommend to everyone!

Pep Playing Games…

Today in Germany’s top quality reporting on the Leroy Sané transfer saga, it seems Pep Guardiola has begun to anger the Bayern Munich hierarchy. Via Sport Witness, BILD are suggesting that Guardiola is ‘playing games’ with Bayern regarding Sané. There is an annoyance that there was no medical update from Manchester City on Monday after Sané was substituted in the Community Shield after landing awkwardly on his knee. BILD are also worried that the price could potentially rise due to the obvious demand for the player.

Don’t worry BILD, I’m sure the City staff are just taking their time creating a detailed report on their player for another club. It wouldn’t surprise me if they were also detailing a complete tactical analysis of their game-plan along with the lineup to send to West Ham ahead of this weekend’s match!

Promising Youngster Signs

Manchester City have beaten major Premier League competition from Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal in agreeing a deal to sign Kane Taylor. The 14-year-old moves to the Etihad following his time at Aston Villa coming to an end, with City agreeing a compensation package for the former Villa academy player. Taylor, who is a left-footed midfielder, will join City’s Under-16 squad for this upcoming campaign.

Welcome Kane!
